The Bear
02:12
|
|||
I was there when you told me about the bear
I didn't care
Greasy fingers running through your hair
Pushing, pulling everywhere
Chorus:
The Bear
Will get what he deserves, I suppose
The Bear
Will leave his imprint on your face and on your clothes
You think I want to be dating the bear? I swear...
He don't compare.
He's rough and tumble he's a mess of a man,
But he answered my call, and at least he's there.
Chorus:
The Bear
Will give what I deserve, I suppose
The Bear
Will wear my scent upon his face and on his clothes.
And what the bear wants, the bear gets.
So much talk about you taming the bear, I swear,
You needn't have shared.
Rocking and rolling in that animal's lair,
I see it all, though I wasn't there.

Burn the Town
04:16
|
|||
She parks the car and takes the key
She steps outside, then suddenly, she checks her hair.
She makes her way up to the door
She doesn't feel she needs to hide
And she's inside.
Chorus:
Just one fact can break it all
Burn the town
Just one picture and it all comes crashing down
Just one accident that hangs around
And look at what you've found
He pulls a record from the sleeve
She's made her mind up not to leave
He brushes back her hair
And puts some food down on her plate,
She's feeling hungry from the wait,
And takes it all inside.
Chorus
She wakes at dawn and slips away
He doesn't ask for her to stay
He hardly says a word
She feels the road beneath her surge
And pushing back a sudden urge,
She keeps it all inside

Walked past your house again
It doesn't make a difference
The blinds are drawn
The plants are staring at me vaguely from the sill
You could be sitting in your parlor
Drinking coffee with the milk man
That's a bitter pill
The feeling still remains it hasn't died
It's just an empty sort of thrill
That has me clutch at my insides and wonder why
We can't be happening like we happened once before
And happening still
Chorus:
And everyone at Target drives a Honda
And every stranger's face looks just like you
And every poor man's imitation carries home the blow
That it's all over and there's nothing I can do
And everyone at Target Drives a Honda
Scrolled through your Facebook page
It didn't solve my problem
That blue-eyed rocker boy is staring through his sideburns back at me
You could be sitting in his Kitchen
Eating crackers from his cupboard
Oh what a thing to see
The days they just tick by
They're all the same
My only hope is we'll collide
It's just my never-ending game
That has me planning run-ins, chance encounters all the while
Every time I step outside.
Chorus
